We have a big update that’s important for you to read. We appreciate your time in advance and ask that you read our update through to the end. We hope it will answer any questions you may have, but if not, our support team is standing by!
For the last 16 years, we have been committed to protecting your privacy and giving you ways to call and text while protecting your personal information. To ensure your calls connect and are processed properly by phone carriers, we have some exciting updates that will change the way our service is offered. We are committed to protecting your privacy and will still offer the excellent service you have become so loyal to.
Here’s What’s Changing:
With new carrier regulations, service providers like ours are required to verify ownership of the phone number used for caller ID. These regulations are being put in place to protect consumers and ensure a high level of security and trust with caller ID. We completely respect and align in this effort. We can accomplish this while also continuing to maintain your privacy on calls and texts. We’ll continue giving you the ability to display a secondary number of your choosing. However, you’ll need to choose this number from a list of numbers we will provide. If you use our texting service, this is very similar to how that works.
Why Is This Changing?
Nearly everyone has had a call come into their phone that their carrier has labeled “Spam” or “Scam Likely.” You’ve probably even answered a few and found that your carrier wrongly labeled your doctor or children’s school as “Scam Likely.” To ensure your calls connect and that phone carriers do not label your calls wrongly, we must adjust the way calls are processed. By using numbers we offer as your caller ID, carriers will not only process your calls, but you also won’t need to worry about them being labeled as “Spam” or “Scam Likely.” Your calls will connect seamlessly with this improved setup, and you won’t have to worry about the carrier mislabeling your calls. Win-win!
How Will This Work?
As of February 1, when placing calls, you will need to select the number you wish to display from a drop-down menu of numbers we offer. Your personal number will never be displayed and will always be protected. We’ll be offering a comprehensive list of US and Canadian numbers to choose from. We’ll also be adding Mexican numbers (coming soon).
What If I Need To Call From A Specific Number?
We’re glad you asked! We realize sometimes you need to call from a specific number when you’re traveling or don’t have access to your local phone line. We’re building a way for you to verify numbers you own so that you can use them as your caller ID as well. The benefit of this is you’ll be able to take your phone numbers with you wherever you go. Imagine you’ve left your work phone at the office and only have your personal cell phone with you. If you’ve verified your work number on the SpoofCard app, you’ll be able to use your work number as your caller ID when you place calls from the app, whether you’re home, traveling, or just don’t want to carry two phones with you! Our development team is currently working on this feature, and we anticipate it should be available on our iOS and Android apps within the next few weeks.
We’ve all experienced a lot of change these last few years and our goal is to always be a product you can trust and rely on. These updates will ensure you have the best experience possible and will continue to give you the privacy and protection you need.
